CiteLLM for Claude

Verify claims against your PDFs inside Claude, with every quotation highlighted in the source.

Add CiteLLM to Claude

  • Claude, Desktop and Cowork: open Customize → Connectors, find CiteLLM in the directory and select Connect. You can also add a custom connector with the URL https://mcp.citellm.com/mcp.
  • Claude Code: run claude plugin marketplace add superdocsio/citellm-claude-plugin, then claude plugin install citellm@superdocs.

Sign in

When you connect, sign in with Google. A free CiteLLM account is created automatically, and paid plans have higher limits. Ask Claude to “check my CiteLLM allowance” to see yours.

Attach your PDF

Attach a PDF to your message. In Claude and Cowork, Claude sends it to CiteLLM from its code sandbox, so allow mcp.citellm.com under Settings → Capabilities → Code execution and file creation → Network access. Otherwise Claude offers a picker where you select the PDF yourself.

Claude reads the PDF and assesses each claim. CiteLLM finds the exact source passage and opens a viewer with every quotation highlighted. Up to 20 PDFs and 100 claims per PDF fit in one review, and you can download a highlighted PDF or an evidence report.

Good to know

  • CiteLLM confirms where each quotation appears. The assessment of each claim is Claude’s, not an independent fact check.
  • For calculated figures, Claude shows the formula and CiteLLM highlights each input.
  • Scanned PDFs need text recognition (OCR) before upload.

Your data

Only the PDFs you attach or select are sent to CiteLLM. They are private to your account and deleted 30 minutes after upload by default, or sooner if you ask Claude to delete them. See the privacy policy and terms.
